UPS systems for data centers and server rooms
An uninterruptible power supply holds the load when the mains fails and cleans it while the mains is present. For anything in a rack the relevant type is double-conversion (online) UPS: the load runs off the inverter permanently, so a transfer to battery takes zero milliseconds. We supply single-phase rack units from 1 kVA up to 1200 kVA (1500 kW), and up to 3.4 MW in multi-module configurations.

Which one should you choose?
Rack or floor-standing?
Under about 20 kVA the unit lives in the cabinet: 1U to 4U, single-phase, fed from a normal socket circuit. Above that you are into three-phase floor-standing frames with their own switchgear and a battery cabinet beside them. The break point is usually the rack, not the load: if there is only one cabinet, keep the UPS in it.
Modular or monolithic?
A modular UPS is built from hot-swappable power modules, so you buy 60 kW today and add modules as the room fills. It costs more per kW at the start and pays for itself if the load genuinely grows. A monolithic unit is cheaper and simpler when the final load is already known. A fixed telecom room, for example.
How much runtime do you actually need?
Battery runtime is the single largest cost driver. If a generator starts within 30 seconds, five minutes of autonomy is generous. If there is no generator, ten to fifteen minutes only buys you a clean shutdown. Lithium-ion costs more up front, occupies roughly half the footprint and lasts two to three times longer than VRLA.
Efficiency and heat
At 400 kW, one efficiency point is around 4 kW of heat you have to pay for twice, once to make it, once to cool it. Current three-phase designs run at or above 96% in double conversion and near 99% in eco mode; ask for the efficiency curve at your actual load factor, not just the peak figure.
Industrial or IT environment?
An industrial UPS is specified for wide temperature range, dust, vibration and often a transformer-isolated output. If the unit will sit in a plant room rather than a conditioned white space, say so at the quote stage. The correct product is different, not just the enclosure.
Single unit or N+1?
Parallel redundancy means one UPS can fail or go into maintenance without dropping the load. It roughly doubles the equipment cost and is worth it where downtime cost per hour exceeds the difference. Many rooms get the same effect more cheaply with dual-corded loads and a rack ATS.
