Supermicro A+ Server (H13/H14): AMD EPYC rack servers

The A+ Server line is Supermicro’s AMD EPYC 9004/9005 platform: AS-1115HS-TNR is a 1U single-socket server taking up to 128 cores, 6 TB of DDR5 and one double-width GPU; AS-2115HS-TNR and AS-2125HS-TNR move to 2U with 24 hot-swap 2.5-inch bays. AS-5126GS-TNRT was not confirmed in the documents we checked.

Source of the values: Supermicro AS-1115HS-TNR/AS-2115HS-TNR/AS-2125HS-TNR product pages (supermicro.com). AS-1115HS-TNR is documented in full from Supermicro’s own product page; AS-2115HS-TNR and AS-2125HS-TNR were confirmed for form factor, processor and drive bays only. We could not confirm AS-5126GS-TNRT in the sources we checked. An en dash means the manufacturer does not publish that value in the source we hold; we do not fill it in with an estimate. Confirm every figure against the current manufacturer document before it is written into a contract.

The codes we quote in this family are AS-1115HS-TNR, AS-2115HS-TNR, AS-2125HS-TNR and AS-5126GS-TNRT. Send us the workload and the constraints, and we will confirm availability, lead time and the exact configuration.

Which one should you choose?

A single-socket EPYC 9004/9005 replaces what used to need two Intel sockets

AS-1115HS-TNR’s single socket reaches up to 128 cores; more than many dual-socket Intel configurations in our range; which changes the calculation for per-socket-licensed software where fewer, denser sockets reduce licensing cost even as the hardware footprint shrinks.

One double-width GPU in 1U is a specific, not a general-purpose, capability

AS-1115HS-TNR takes exactly one double-width GPU, which fits a single-accelerator inferencing or transcoding role but not a multi-GPU training workload. If more than one GPU is needed, the 2U AS-2115HS-TNR/AS-2125HS-TNR or the dedicated GPU SuperServer line is the right page.

AS-2115HS-TNR and AS-2125HS-TNR both give 24 drive bays but were only partially confirmed

Both 2U codes confirmed at 24 hot-swap 2.5-inch bays with a PCIe 5.0 slot in the sources we checked; their memory, GPU and power supply figures were not confirmed and stay blank rather than being carried over from AS-1115HS-TNR, which is a different chassis size.

AS-5126GS-TNRT needs a direct confirmation before it goes into a quote

We could not locate published specifications for AS-5126GS-TNRT in the sources checked for this page. If a customer specifically asks for this code, ask us to confirm its configuration with Supermicro before it is written into any proposal.

H13/H14 naming reflects the AMD platform generation, not a marketing tier

The H13/H14 designation in this family’s name tracks the AMD EPYC 9004 (H13) versus 9005 (H14) platform generation on the motherboard, similar to how Intel platforms are tracked by X12/X13. Confirm which platform generation a specific code ships on before assuming interchangeability between quotes.

Where it fits, and where it does not

Fits a workload where AMD’s core density per socket reduces per-socket software licensing cost, from single-GPU inferencing (AS-1115HS-TNR) up to 24-drive storage-dense roles (AS-2115HS-TNR/AS-2125HS-TNR). Does not fit a multi-GPU training workload; see the GPU SuperServer line for that.

What we need in order to quote it

  • Single or dual socket, based on per-socket licensing considerations
  • Whether a single GPU is enough or a multi-GPU chassis is needed
  • Drive count needed if a 2U storage-dense role is the target
  • Confirmation request if AS-5126GS-TNRT is specifically required
