Supermicro X13 CloudDC: compact 1U and 2U cloud servers

X13 CloudDC covers single and dual-socket 4th generation Xeon Scalable in a tool-less, hot-swap design aimed at rapid cloud deployment: SYS-111C-NR and SYS-121C-TN10R at 1U, SYS-611C-TN4R at 1U with 3.5-inch bays, and SYS-621C-TN12R at 2U with 12x 3.5-inch drives and six PCIe 5.0 slots.

Source of the values: Supermicro X13 SuperServer family brochure (CloudDC section). Excel lists this family’s codes as SYS-610U-TNR/SYS-620U-TNR (previous, X12/3rd Gen Xeon generation; we hold a datasheet for SYS-610U-TNR confirming it is 3rd Gen Xeon, not the current X13 platform). Supermicro’s current X13 brochure uses SYS-6x1C-TNxxR naming for the same CloudDC line; we quote the current X13 codes here and log the naming change separately (K-69). An en dash means the manufacturer does not publish that value in the source we hold; we do not fill it in with an estimate. Confirm every figure against the current manufacturer document before it is written into a contract.

Which one should you choose?

A naming-generation correction worth knowing before you quote

Our internal product list names this family’s codes as SYS-610U-TNR/SYS-620U-TNR; we hold a datasheet for SYS-610U-TNR and it documents 3rd generation Xeon on the previous X12 platform, not the current X13 generation. Supermicro’s current X13 brochure uses SYS-6x1C-TNxxR naming for the same CloudDC role, and that is what we quote on this page.

Single-socket UP and dual-socket DP options share the same chassis footprint

SYS-111C-NR (single-socket) and SYS-121C-TN10R (dual-socket) both fit in 1U, letting a row standardise on one physical footprint while choosing single or dual socket per node based on the actual workload’s core requirement; useful for a mixed web-server and application-server row.

All four CloudDC codes share tool-less serviceability as standard

Tool-less brackets and hot-swap drive trays across the whole line mean a failed drive or fan can be swapped without powering down the chassis or reaching for a screwdriver, which shortens the maintenance window on a live cloud row and reduces the training needed for on-site staff.

Where it fits, and where it does not

Fits a cloud or web-hosting row that wants tool-less serviceability and a choice of single/dual socket in the same compact footprint. Does not fit a role needing the X12-generation SYS-610U/620U-TNR specifically; those are a previous, 3rd Gen Xeon platform, not what this page describes.
