Eaton ePDU G3 Basic: unmetered power distribution
ePDU G3 Basic is Eaton’s unmetered tier: reliable outlets with a lightweight aluminium chassis, tool-less mounting and integrated IEC outlet grips to hold cords in place, without a display or network interface. Eaton’s own site restricts automated access to its full catalogue, so this page carries the two references we could source, EBAB08 and EBAB338.

Which one should you choose?
Integrated outlet grips solve a real cabling problem
IEC power cords work loose in a dense rack more often than the connector type suggests, and a single loose cord in a switched PDU can look like a device failure. The grip feature on ePDU G3 is a small mechanical detail that removes a recurring troubleshooting call.
EBAB08 and EBAB338 are very different scales
EBAB08 is a 32 A single-phase 0U unit with 36 C13 outlets, suited to a standard IT rack. EBAB338 is rated at 43.6 kW, a large three-phase distribution unit for a high-density row rather than a single rack. Confirm which scale your project actually needs before requesting a quote.
Basic is the right starting point for a straightforward rack
If the rack has one predictable load and no requirement for remote visibility, Basic avoids paying for monitoring and network features that would sit unused. Upgrading later to Metered Input or Managed is a straightforward like-for-like swap within the same ePDU G3 platform.
Tool-less mounting shortens a straightforward install even further
The pre-installed, tool-less mounting buttons on ePDU G3 mean a rack technician does not need to carry screws or a driver for a routine PDU swap, which sounds minor until you are doing it on the twentieth rack in a row during a deployment.
Side-mounting avoids fan and power supply interference
Optional side mounting button locations let the PDU sit at a 90-degree rotation without blocking hot-swap fans or power supplies on adjacent equipment, useful in a densely populated rack where the standard rear position is not free.
Where it fits, and where it does not
Fits a rack with a fixed, predictable load where reliable distribution matters more than visibility. Does not fit a shared or capacity-managed circuit; see Metered Input or Managed for that.
