Legrand Raritan PX4: next-generation build-to-order rack PDU

PX4 is Raritan’s next-generation intelligent rack PDU, built around the iX controller for higher compute power, hot-swappable redundancy and industrial-grade reliability. Like PX3 it is a build-to-order platform; the three references below are example configurations from Legrand’s catalogue with their full electrical data.

Which one should you choose?

The iX controller is the reason to choose PX4 over PX3

PX4’s iX controller offers more compute power, a display, and multiple connectivity ports with hot-swappable, industrial-grade reliability and multilayer redundancy for failover. If the deployment is large enough that controller downtime itself becomes a risk, that redundancy is the differentiator.

High-current three-phase examples show the top of the range

PX4-53A4I2V-C8E7N2V2 is a 60/63 A three-phase unit with 36 combination outlets, and PX4-5630I2R-C8E8 covers 30/32 A three-phase with a mixed C13/combination outlet set. These sit at the high-density end of what a single rack PDU delivers.

A NEMA-plug variant exists for North American switchboards

PX4-5630R-E8 uses a NEMA L22-30P plug rated 30 A (24 A UL) at 17.3 kVA, the North American counterpart to the IEC-plugged PX4-5630I2R-C8E8 at the same outlet configuration. Match the plug family to the switchboard standard at the site, not to what looks similar on a spec sheet.

Configuration works the same way as PX3

Send us the load, phase, outlet mix and mounting position and we will build the exact PX4 part number with Legrand, the same process as for PX3. There is no separate configurator process to learn between the two platforms.

PX4 does not replace PX3 across the board

Legrand continues to sell both platforms; PX4 is not simply a newer PX3. Where the deployment does not need the iX controller’s extra compute and redundancy, PX3 remains a fully current, supported choice rather than a legacy fallback.

Where it fits, and where it does not

Fits a large or high-density deployment where controller-level redundancy and failover matter as much as the power distribution itself. Does not fit a smaller deployment where PX3’s iX7 controller is already sufficient at a lower cost.
