Eaton ePDU G3 Metered Input: rack-level power visibility

Metered Input adds a local display of voltage, current, power and load to the same reliable ePDU G3 platform as Basic, without per-outlet switching. EMIB05 and EMIB00 are the two references we could source specifications for: a single-phase 32 A unit and a three-phase 16 A unit.

Which one should you choose?

Rack-level metering is often the minimum a colocation contract requires

Where a contract requires visible power draw for billing or capacity reporting but does not require remote switching, Metered Input meets the requirement at a lower cost than Managed. Check the contract wording before over-specifying.

EMIB05 and EMIB00 target different supply types

EMIB05 is single-phase at 200–240 V, 32 A; EMIB00 is three-phase at 346–415 V, 16 A. These are not interchangeable by outlet count alone, the input side has to match what the switchboard actually delivers to the row.

Local display reduces dependency on the network being up

Because the reading is available on the unit itself, a network outage does not leave the rack’s power status unknown. That independence from the management network is one reason to choose a metered unit even in a site with otherwise good network monitoring.

Metering data belongs in your capacity plan, not just on a screen

A metered unit is only doing half its job if the readings are checked occasionally rather than fed into a regular capacity review. Ask us about exporting the data to whatever monitoring platform you already run, rather than treating the display as the end point.

Metered Input adds the display and metering electronics to the identical mechanical platform as ePDU G3 Basic, so the installation experience, mounting hardware and cable retention are unchanged. Only the electronics inside are different.

Where it fits, and where it does not

Fits a rack or a colocation contract that requires visible power draw without remote switching. Does not fit a rack that needs per-outlet data or remote reboot capability.
