CyberPower Switched PDU (PDU41xxx): remote outlet control

The PDU41xxx Switched series adds remote on/off control per outlet to CyberPower’s rack PDU line, managed through PowerPanel Business Edition or the built-in network interface. The 1U, 15 A and 20 A models we hold specifications for share the same eight-outlet layout and multifunction LCD readout; only the input voltage, plug and current change between them.

Which one should you choose?

Remote reboot is the feature that justifies the price step

Compared with a monitored-only unit, Switched adds the ability to power-cycle a hung device without a site visit. If remote hands are expensive or slow to arrange at your location, that alone often pays for the upgrade within the first incident.

15 A and 20 A models are not interchangeable on site

PDU41001 (15 A, NEMA 5-15P) and PDU41002 (20 A, NEMA 5-20P) use different plugs and are rated for different circuits. Confirm the branch circuit rating before ordering, because a 20 A unit will not plug into a 15 A receptacle and should not be adapted to do so.

100–240 V models widen where the unit can be deployed

PDU41004 and PDU41005 accept 100–240 V input through an IEC 320 C14 inlet, which makes the same reference usable across regions with different mains voltage. That simplifies stocking for an organisation with sites in more than one country.

The LCD readout is a troubleshooting tool, not a display gimmick

Voltage, frequency, load, current and firmware version are all readable locally without a laptop. On a first site visit after an alert, that local readout is often what tells you whether the problem is the PDU, the circuit or the connected device.

PDU41008 is named but not in the table we hold

PDU41008 appears in our product records but the manual we hold does not carry its specification row. We have not estimated a value; ask us and we will confirm it with CyberPower before quoting.

Where it fits, and where it does not

Fits a rack where a hung or misbehaving device needs remote power-cycling without a site visit. Does not fit a rack that also needs per-outlet metering; see the Switched Metered-by-Outlet family for that.
