CyberPower Switched Metered-by-Outlet PDU (PDU81xxx)

PDU81xxx adds per-outlet power measurement on top of the remote switching in the PDU41xxx family: current, voltage, load and energy usage are readable for each individual outlet, not just for the unit as a whole. It is CyberPower’s most capable rack PDU tier documented in our records.

Source of the values: CyberPower Switched PDU41xxx/PDU81xxx series user manual, technical specifications tables. An en dash means the manufacturer does not publish that value; we do not fill it in with an estimate. Confirm every figure against the current manufacturer document before it is written into a contract.

The references we quote in this family are PDU81001, PDU81001G, PDU81002, PDU81003, PDU81004, PDU81005, PDU81007, PDU81008, PDU81009, PDU81101, PDU81102, PDU81104 and PDU81105. Send us the load, the phase and the outlet count you need, and we will confirm availability and lead time.

Which one should you choose?

Per-outlet data answers a different question than per-unit data

Unit-level metering tells you the rack is near its circuit limit. Outlet-level metering tells you which server is causing it. If cost allocation, capacity planning by device, or finding a specific overloaded connection matters, the extra granularity is the reason to pay for this tier over PDU41xxx.

The 15 A and 20 A models mirror the Switched family exactly

PDU81001/PDU81004 and PDU81002/PDU81005 use the same plugs, voltages and outlet counts as their PDU41xxx counterparts. If you already know which Switched model fits your circuit, the Metered-by-Outlet equivalent is a straightforward substitution.

2U models exist for higher outlet counts

PDU81003 and its 2U siblings carry a 24 A rating with more outlets than the 1U models, at the cost of the extra rack unit. Choose 2U only when the outlet count genuinely does not fit in 1U; the extra unit is rack space you cannot use for equipment.

0U vertical variants trade outlet metering detail for rack space

PDU81101/PDU81102 mount vertically at the rear and free the front U space entirely, which matters in racks already tight on horizontal space. Confirm the depth clearance behind the rack before specifying a 0U unit.

Several references are named but not in the manual we hold

PDU81007, PDU81008, PDU81009, PDU81104 and PDU81105 appear in our product records without a matching specification row in the document we hold. We have not estimated values for them; send us the load and outlet count you need and we will confirm the exact reference with CyberPower.

Where it fits, and where it does not

Fits a colocation or shared-infrastructure rack where cost has to be allocated per device, or where a specific overloaded connection needs to be found quickly. Does not fit a rack with one owner and one predictable load, where unit-level metering is enough.

What we need in order to quote it

  • Branch circuit rating and available rack units (1U or 2U)
  • Whether outlet-level data will feed a billing or capacity system
  • Plug type and input voltage range needed
  • 0U vertical or horizontal mounting preference
