Schneider Electric Rack PDU 2G (AP89xx): superseded generation

Rack PDU 2G is the generation of switched PDUs that the current NetShelter 9000 Series replaced. Schneider Electric’s own datasheet lists each AP89xx code as the previous model of an APDU99xx reference, with identical electrical ratings for the pair. We keep this page because AP89xx still appears in installed racks and older quotations; for a current order, the 9000 Series page carries the same product under its current name.

Source of the values: APC by Schneider Electric, NetShelter 9000 Series Switched Rack PDU brochure (current-generation datasheet with previous-model cross-reference). Schneider Electric’s current 9000 Series datasheet names these as the previous model for its APDU99xx references (e.g. AP8941 -> APDU9941) and publishes identical electrical data for the pair. We used that manufacturer cross-reference rather than a separate, undocumented AP89xx table. AP8859 is named in our product list but has no current-generation equivalent in the datasheet we hold, so its cells are blank. For a current order, ask for the APDU99xx reference on the NetShelter Rack PDU Advanced (9000 series) page. An en dash means the manufacturer does not publish that value; we do not fill it in with an estimate. Confirm every figure against the current manufacturer document before it is written into a contract.

The references we quote in this family are AP8853, AP8858, AP8859, AP8886, AP8941, AP8953, AP8959, AP8965 and AP8981. Send us the load, the phase and the outlet count you need, and we will confirm availability and lead time.

Which one should you choose?

Same product, new name

Do not treat AP8941 and APDU9941 as two different products to compare on price. They are the same electrical design under two catalogue names from two generations. If a supplier quotes AP89xx at a discount, confirm whether new stock is even being manufactured under that code before ordering.

Use this page to identify what is already installed

The most common reason to look up AP89xx today is a spare-parts or expansion order against an existing rack. Match the code on the unit’s label to this table, then order the APDU99xx equivalent unless the exact old part number is required for a like-for-like replacement.

AP8859 has no confirmed current equivalent

Unlike the other references on this page, AP8859 does not appear in the current 9000 Series datasheet we hold, so we cannot confirm its replacement or its rating. If you need this specific unit, send us the label photo and we will check availability directly with Schneider Electric.

Mechanical fit is unchanged between generations

Because the electrical design carried over, a rack cut out or bracket sized for an AP89xx unit accepts the APDU99xx replacement without modification. This matters when a refresh project wants to reuse existing cable management.

Warranty terms follow the current reference

A unit ordered today under the APDU99xx code carries the manufacturer’s current warranty terms even though the design is unchanged from the AP89xx generation. There is no warranty disadvantage to ordering under the current name.

Where it fits, and where it does not

Fits identifying an already-installed unit or matching a legacy part number for a like-for-like replacement. Does not fit a new order; use the NetShelter Rack PDU Advanced (9000 series) page for that.

What we need in order to quote it

  • The exact code printed on the installed unit’s label
  • Whether a like-for-like part number is required or the current equivalent is acceptable
  • Quantity needed for the expansion or spares order
  • Rack position and cable length already in use
