Rittal VX IT: enclosed rack cabinet, 15,000 N static load

VX IT is Rittal’s current-generation network and server enclosure: 85% perforated front and rear doors on aluminium sections, a published static load capacity of 15,000 N across both mounting levels, and a fully configurable frame that bays on all sides. It is the platform that replaced the older TS IT generation.

Source of the values: Rittal VX IT 42U 800×1000 datasheet. Static load capacity (15,000 N total on both mounting levels, 12,000 N per UL 2416) and the 85% perforation ratio are published for the VX IT platform; not every reference in our list has its own width/depth confirmed in the datasheet we hold. An en dash means the manufacturer does not publish that value; we do not fill it in with an estimate. Confirm every figure against the current manufacturer document before it is written into a contract.

The references we quote in this family are VX 5309.116, VX 5309.166, VX 5311.126 and VX 5331.190. Send us the U height, the width and depth your rack row allows, and we will confirm availability and lead time.

Which one should you choose?

15,000 N is a published number, not a marketing claim

Rittal states the static load capacity to two standards: 15,000 N total, and 12,000 N to UL 2416. When a floor loading calculation needs a defensible source, this is one of the few cabinet families in our range with a specific, documented figure rather than a general assurance.

85% perforation is high even within this category

Most enclosed cabinets in our range perforate somewhere between 65% and 80% of the door area. VX IT’s 85% figure is at the high end, which matters directly for airflow in a hot-aisle/cold-aisle layout without active cooling in the cabinet itself.

Two colours cover the whole visible enclosure

The frame, rear door and roof are RAL 7035, and the front door trim is RAL 9005, a deliberate two-tone finish rather than a single flat colour. If the room has a strict colour standard, confirm it against this two-tone scheme rather than a single RAL code.

Width and depth are not confirmed for every reference

Only VX 5309.116 has a confirmed 800 × 1000 mm footprint in the documents we hold; the other three references share the static load and colour specification but their width and depth are not separately confirmed. Ask us before assuming they match the base model’s footprint.

VX IT replaced TS IT for a reason worth knowing

Rittal’s current VX IT platform supersedes the older TS IT generation with a fully configurable frame that bays on all sides and a higher published static load. If a quotation or an existing rack references TS IT, treat VX IT as the current equivalent rather than a different product line.

Where it fits, and where it does not

Fits a project where the floor loading calculation needs a documented static load figure, or where high door perforation matters for passive airflow. Does not fit a project needing the specific width/depth of VX 5309.166, 5311.126 or 5331.190 confirmed without asking, since only the base model’s footprint is in our documents.

What we need in order to quote it

  • U height and confirmed width/depth for the specific reference
  • Floor loading limit that the static load must satisfy
  • Airflow strategy: passive perforation or active cooling
  • Colour standard already in use in the room
