Legrand Raritan PX3: build-to-order intelligent rack PDU

PX3 is Raritan’s intelligent rack PDU platform, built on the Xerus embedded computing platform and available across five metering tiers from simple input visibility to full outlet-level switching. Input plug, outlet count and mounting position are chosen per order rather than fixed by a model number; the three references below are example configurations from Legrand’s own catalogue with their full electrical data.

Source of the values: Legrand Raritan data center power distribution catalogue (PX series overview). Raritan PX3 is a build-to-order platform: input plug, outlet count and current rating are chosen per order. The three references above are example configurations published in the Legrand Raritan catalogue with their full electrical data; they are not the only configurations available. Send us the load, phase, outlet count and mounting position and we will build the exact part number with Legrand. An en dash means the manufacturer does not publish that value; we do not fill it in with an estimate. Confirm every figure against the current manufacturer document before it is written into a contract.

The references we quote in this family are PX3-1173-N1Q1V2, PX3-5215I2-P1V4 and PX3-5747I2U-O1V2. Send us the load, the phase and the outlet count you need, and we will confirm availability and lead time.

Which one should you choose?

Five tiers answer five different questions

The 1000 series gives rack-level input visibility. The 2000 series adds outlet switching on top of that. The 3000 series meters inline without distributing power itself. The 4000 series meters at the outlet. The 5000 series combines outlet metering with outlet switching. Pick the tier by what decision the data needs to support, not by the highest number available.

The example configurations show what a real order looks like

PX3-1173-N1Q1V2 is a 60 A three-phase, 0U, 21-outlet unit with Saf-D-Grid outlets for a high-density row. PX3-5215I2-P1V4 is the same input class with a C13/C19 mix. PX3-5747I2U-O1V2 scales to 48 outlets in a top-mounted 0U unit. These are real catalogue examples, not the only options.

Three-level metering finds the point of failure faster

PX3 can meter at the branch circuit breaker, the inlet and the outlet simultaneously. When a circuit trips, having all three levels means you can tell whether the fault is upstream of the PDU, at the PDU itself, or at a specific connected device, without process of elimination.

The Xerus platform is what ages well

Because Xerus is the common embedded platform across Raritan’s power products, new firmware features arrive on hardware already installed rather than requiring a replacement. That matters over the PDU’s service life more than any single feature does at the time of purchase.

Configuration takes the load and the mounting position first

Because this is a build-to-order platform, we cannot give you a single part number from a series name alone. Send us the load, the phase, the outlet mix and where the unit mounts in the rack, and we will build the exact PX3 part number with Legrand.

Where it fits, and where it does not

Fits a data centre that wants Raritan’s three-level metering and the flexibility to configure exactly the input, outlet mix and mounting a rack needs. Does not fit a project that needs a fixed catalogue number ready to order without a configuration step.

What we need in order to quote it

  • Metering tier needed: input only, outlet, or both with switching
  • Load, phase and input plug the switchboard delivers
  • Outlet count and mix (C13/C19, Saf-D-Grid or other)
  • Mounting position and orientation in the rack
