Legrand Minkels Nexpand: server and colocation cabinets, 1500 kg
Nexpand is Legrand’s Minkels-brand enclosed cabinet platform: a static load capacity of 1500 kg, 80% perforated front and rear doors, and a choice of black or white finish across three configurations covering server, colocation and rack-and-stack deployment.

Source of the values: Legrand Minkels Nexpand server cabinet datasheet. Dimensions and door specification are for the Nexpand server cabinet; the colocation and rack-and-stack variants share the same frame and static load rating but are supplied in project-specific configurations. An en dash means the manufacturer does not publish that value; we do not fill it in with an estimate. Confirm every figure against the current manufacturer document before it is written into a contract.
The references we quote in this family are Nexpand server cabinet, Nexpand colocation and Nexpand TR (rack & stack). Send us the U height, the width and depth your rack row allows, and we will confirm availability and lead time.
Which one should you choose?
1500 kg is comparable to Rittal, well above Schneider and Vertiv’s published range
Where the enclosed cabinet families from Schneider Electric and Vertiv in our range do not publish a static load figure, Nexpand states 1500 kg directly. For a heavy storage array or a dense blade chassis deployment, that published number removes a question mark from the sizing conversation.
Colocation and rack-and-stack share the frame, not the paperwork
The colocation and TR (rack-and-stack) variants use the same static load rating and frame as the base server cabinet but arrive in project-specific configurations, which usually means a longer lead time and a configuration step before ordering rather than a fixed catalogue purchase.
Black or white is a genuine choice, not a regional default
Both finishes are standard rather than one being a special order. White is worth considering in a brightly lit office-adjacent server room where it reduces the visual weight of a row of cabinets; black remains the more common choice in a dedicated data hall.
The full height range covers three ceiling heights, not one
42U, 47U and 52U correspond to 2000, 2200 and 2450 mm overall height. Before specifying the tallest option, confirm the room’s clear ceiling height and the door swing clearance, because 2450 mm is close to the limit in many standard-height server rooms.
Nexpand is a newer platform than some competing families in this range
Because Nexpand is Legrand’s current Minkels-brand cabinet generation, spare parts, accessories and configuration options are actively maintained rather than being phased out, which is worth weighing against an older platform when planning a multi-year rack refresh programme.
Where it fits, and where it does not
Fits a project that needs a documented static load figure at the higher end of what enclosed cabinets in our range publish, in either colour finish. Does not fit a project needing a fixed, off-the-shelf part number for the colocation or rack-and-stack variants, which are configured per project.
What we need in order to quote it
- U height needed: 42U, 47U or 52U, against the room’s ceiling height
- Width and depth combination for the equipment planned
- Colour finish: black or white
- Whether the deployment is a standard server cabinet or a colocation/rack-and-stack configuration
