ABB TruONE ATS: 30 to 1600 A all-in-one transfer switch
TruONE is ABB’s all-in-one automatic transfer switch, covering 30 A to 1600 A in a single integrated device rather than a switch plus a separate controller. The switching mechanism and the control electronics live in one enclosure, which removes the wiring between them and the commissioning work that goes with it. Codes are OXB and OXH at each current rating.

Which one should you choose?
All-in-one changes what you install
A conventional panel ATS is two products: the switching mechanism and a controller, connected by wiring you specify, install and commission. TruONE puts both in one device. The practical effect is fewer terminations to get wrong, a smaller panel section and a shorter commissioning visit. On a multi-site rollout that difference compounds.
Sizing on current, not on generator kVA
Size the switch on the full-load current of the supply it carries and check it against the upstream breaker. Motor and UPS loads draw significant inrush, so the switch has to be rated for starting current as well as running current. The family runs 30, 40, 63, 100, 125, 160, 200, 250, 400, 630, 800, 1000, 1250 and 1600 A, so the answer lands on a defined step.
Three or four poles
A four-pole switch breaks the neutral as well as the phases, which is required where the generator neutral is separately earthed. Getting this wrong is not a performance issue, it is an earthing-system issue, and it is discovered at inspection rather than at commissioning. Confirm the earthing arrangement before the order, not after.
Where it sits against a rack ATS
This is a panel-type device that transfers a building or a room between mains and generator, with a transfer time measured in seconds. A 1U rack ATS transfers a single cabinet between two feeds in milliseconds. They solve different problems and many sites need both, one at the board and one in the rack.
