Vertiv Geist Rack Transfer Switch: 1U/2U, 10 to 32 A
Geist RTS covers eight stocked reference codes from 10 A to 32 A across 1U and 2U chassis, with monitored unit-level and switched outlet-level tiers. All references are UL listed and CE marked, rated 100-240 V depending on the specific code, and support up to 60 °C operating temperature.

Source of the values: Vertiv Geist Rack Transfer Switch brochure. Excel lists placeholder codes for this family (“VA1U2100, VA1U2101, RTS 1U series”); Vertiv’s own reference model brochure gives eight real, current stocked reference codes, which we quote here instead (K-69 correction). An en dash means the manufacturer does not publish that value in the source we hold; we do not fill it in with an estimate. Confirm every figure against the current manufacturer document before it is written into a contract.
The references we quote in this family are VA4U11A0, VA4N11A0, VA4N21A0, VA4N31A0, VA7U21A0, VA4U21A0, VA7G32A0 and VA4G31A0. Send us the load, the phase and the transfer requirement, and we will confirm availability and lead time.
Which one should you choose?
A real reference list beats a generic model name every time
Our internal records once carried a placeholder name for this family; Vertiv’s own reference model brochure gives eight specific, currently stocked codes (VA4U11A0, VA4N11A0, VA4N21A0, VA4N31A0, VA7U21A0, VA4U21A0, VA7G32A0, VA4G31A0), which is what we now quote from. Always ask for the exact reference rather than a family name when placing an order.
Monitored unit-level and switched outlet-level solve different problems
A monitored unit-level reference (VA4x1xA0) reports overall status but does not let you remotely power-cycle a single outlet; a switched outlet-level reference (VA7x1xA0/VA7G32A0) does. Choose switched only if remote per-outlet control is an actual operational need, not a default upgrade.
AMER and EMEA codes are stocked separately, plug type follows region
VA4N/VA4U-prefixed codes with NEMA plugs are the AMER stocking group; VA7-prefixed and the C20-input VA4U21A0/VA7U21A0 are EMEA. Order the code that matches the site’s plug standard rather than assuming the AMER reference is a universal default.
VA7G32A0 is the only 2U reference in the family
All seven other references are 1U; VA7G32A0 alone steps up to 2U for its 32 A, 12-outlet switched configuration. If rack space is tight, confirm whether a 1U 32 A alternative genuinely does not exist before allocating the extra U.
Ask for the datasheet by exact reference, not by “Geist RTS” alone
Because eight distinct references share the Geist RTS family name with different voltages, currents and outlet counts, requesting documentation by the family name alone risks getting the wrong sheet. Always specify the exact code (for example VA4N21A0) when asking Vertiv or us for detailed drawings.
Where it fits, and where it does not
Fits a row standardising on Vertiv power infrastructure that needs a real, currently stocked ATS reference rather than a generic family order. Does not fit a site needing a 2U monitored (non-switched) 32 A reference; only the switched VA7G32A0 covers that combination in this family.
What we need in order to quote it
- AMER or EMEA plug standard
- Monitored unit-level or switched outlet-level control
- Load current needed (10 to 32 A)
- Rack space: 1U in almost all cases, 2U only for VA7G32A0
