Galaxy VXL: 500 to 1250 kW at 400 V, highest density in the family
Galaxy VXL is the 2024 generation of Schneider Electric’s large three-phase UPS, rated 500 to 1250 kW at 400 V. Within the Galaxy portfolio it is the highest power density available, which means more kilowatts per square metre of electrical room than the generation it follows. Where floor area is the scarce resource rather than money, that is the whole argument.

Which one should you choose?
Density is a floor-area argument
In a building where the electrical room cannot grow, the useful comparison is not price per kilowatt but kilowatts per square metre. A denser frame can be the difference between fitting the required capacity into the existing room and building a new one, and the second option is never cheap.
400 V only, and that decides eligibility
This family is specified at 400 V. If your site is 480 V, this is not the product and Galaxy VX covers the same power band. Confirm the distribution voltage before comparing anything else.
Newest generation, so check the timeline
A current generation product usually carries a longer support horizon, which matters on an asset you expect to run for a decade. It also means lead times and spares behave differently from a long-established line. Ask for both at quotation.
Density has a cooling consequence
Packing more kilowatts into less floor area concentrates the heat those kilowatts produce. A denser electrical room needs its cooling checked against the new arrangement, not the old one. Confirm the heat rejection figure at your rating and give it to whoever owns the cooling design.
Where it fits, and where it does not
Fits a 400 V data hall between 500 and 1250 kW where electrical room area is constrained and the installation is expected to run for a long service life. Does not fit a 480 V site, and does not fit a room where the load will stay well below 500 kW.
What we need in order to quote it
- Distribution voltage, confirmed as 400 V
- Load in kW and the growth you expect to cover
- Electrical room dimensions and the clearance you can give the frame
- Runtime target and battery technology
- Whether the installation must be paralleled for redundancy
